Appiah keen on Schalke move

The Royal Blues have all but agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce's Stephen Appiah and the player is keen to make the move. But it is now down to the clubs to reach agreement. General manager Andreas Müller said: "This is going to be a big obstacle that we need to overcome."
Appiah has expressed his desire to play for the Royal Blues in the new season and Müller revealed the good news at the League Cup semi-final on Tuesday. "We'd actually given up on the deal", said Müller. "But now things are looking good. Appiah is our number one target."
After Schalke had put together a financial package the Ghana midfielder contacted Gerald Asamoah, whom he has known for many years. "Talking to Asa helped him make his mind up", Müller explained. "He told him all about the stadium, the fantastic fans and the excellent training facilities."
Fenerbahce, Appiah's current club, have yet to agree to the deal, however. But now the player has given his OK Müller now intends to "pull out all the stops to bring Stephen to Schalke".
